About Ipe Bows
The scarcity of the pernambuco wood and new regulations governing the sale and harvesting of pernambuco has led to scarcity of new pernambuco bows. L'Archet Brasil has introduced a new lineup using a similar wood known as ipe, or Brazilian walnut. Ipe is a broad term used for several similar species of trees. After trying several similarly-priced pernambuco bows back-to back with ipe bows in blindfold test, our violinists couldn't pick out the differences between the ipe and pernambuco bows. L'Archet Brasil will continue to offer ipe bows, even when pernambuco is again available. Try these bows and discover how good they are. We hand-selected these bows out of a huge selection to offer the best in playability and tone production.
