Judging a violin based on descriptions and performance videos alone is difficult, which is why we offer a unique, simple in-home trial program. Play and experience an instrument at home to decide if it is right for you. Contact us to purchase any instruments you decide to keep. Use the pre-paid shipping label provided by Kennedy Violins to return trial instruments.

For less than the cost of shipping, choose up to two violins or two violas, and up to four bows, to try out in the comfort of your own home! At this time cellos, guitars, ukuleles and basses are not currently available for in-home trial.

Kennedy Violins creates all the shipping documents — you don’t even have to visit the post office. Instrument trials are offered for a twelve day period. Extend your trial period at no cost by calling our helpful staff at 1-800-779-0242.

If you are interested in purchasing a violin with special fitting upgrades, please be aware that you will need to ship your chosen violin back to be upgraded after your in-home trial.

Terms and Conditions

By agreeing to the Kennedy Violins In-Home Trial policy, I understand that all instruments and bows borrowed from Kennedy Violins must be returned by the date written below in the same cosmetic and playing condition as when I received them. If any items are not returned by the date in the agreement, and Kennedy Violins does not agree to extend the trial, Kennedy Violins reserves the right to bill the credit card provided for the full purchase price of the unreturned items. Any damage to the items on trial shall be paid for, in full, up to the purchase price of the damaged items. In the case of a dispute, these terms and conditions, the in-home trial agreement, and customer service notes on file with Kennedy Violins shall determine the outcome. Kennedy Violins requires a valid credit card number to be on file for the duration of the trial. For in-home trials of consignment instruments and/or a value totaling over $2,500, Kennedy Violins may also require a copy of a valid driver's license or state-issued photo ID to be kept on record.
