G. A. Pfretzchner Violin

The G. A. Pfretzchner company was founded in 1834 and the Pfretzschner family continued to deal and produce instruments until the 1930s. They were based in Markneukirchen until the companies demise in the 1930s. This violin is a fine example of the companies work with highly flamed maple being chosen for the back and sides. The top is fine mountain grown spruce with great detail given to this violins arching and construction. This violin is a Strad model and has been tonally adjusted here in house to get a fantastic sound.

Tonally this violin has a very mature and played in sound that projects very evenly in ever register. It leans towards being a bit more clear or bright, but has really good depth in the lower register. This well cared for violin would do well in the hands of a very advanced student or professional player who wants a powerful singing tone.

As a no cost bonus this violin comes with a GA Pfretzchner nickel mounted violin bow and case. The violin bow does need some restoration work to be in good playable condition, but is included in the sale at no cost.

Features:

  • Two-piece well flamed back
  • Ebony fittings
  • Beautifully antiqued reddish brown varnish
  • Currently setup with Evah Pirazzi Strings
  • Professionally carved Aubert Deluxe bridge
