Case: Fitted Hard Case
The Gibson L-47 was only produced from 1940-1945. This early example from February 1940 (determined by factory order number written inside top) suffered much damage and neglect until it was found and lovingly repaired by one of our in house luthiers. While not cosmetically pleasing, it has the sought-after vintage sound these old arch tops are known for. Currently strung with Monel period-correct strings, this rare Gibson is dripping with Mojo!
Featuring a Brazilian rosewood fretboard and Brazilian rosewood adjustable bridge with original trapeze style tailpiece, solid spruce top and maple back and sides.
All original aside from the replaced 3-on-a-plate StewMac golden age restoration tuners, a new unbleached bone nut, and a fresh refret. One top crack was repaired prior to our luthier acquiring it, and the nature of that repair is unknown but deemed stable. One large hole in the lower bout on the treble side required a full patch. Cracks up the treble side have been cleated and glued.
