Learn how to easily shift on the violin!

Hi everyone, today I show you how to easily learn how to shift and I give you 2 exercises that'll make you a great shifter!

Remember 3 things:

1. When shifting, your goal is to move everything together. Do not change the shape of your hand.

2. Do not bend your wrist. Keep your wrist straight while shifting 3. Keep the 1st finger and thumb opposite each other and always move them together while shifting.

Exercise #1: In first position, play the 1st finger, then the 3rd (to hear the correct pitch you'll be shifting to.) Then play the 1st finger again and shift to 1st finger in 3rd position, then shift back down to 1st finger in first position.

Exercise #2: In first position, play the 1st finger, then the 3rd (to hear the correct pitch you'll be shifting to.) Then play the 1st finger again and shift to 1st finger in 3rd position. While in third position, play 1,2,3,4,3,2,1 then shift back down to 1st finger in third position.

Do these exercises everyday and insist on shifting properly while playing your pieces/scales and you'll be confident with your shifting in no time!
