Kennedy Violins Supports Music Therapy for Young Patients at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital
Through a meaningful partnership with the nonprofit organization Guitars 4 Gifts, Kennedy Violins has made an impactful contribution to the music therapy program at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt.
Guitars 4 Gifts , founded by Anna Clark, has been dedicated to providing musical instruments to students in need for over a decade, working to break down financial barriers to music education in over 30 states.
This year, Guitars 4 Gifts expanded its mission to include hospitals, donating 40 guitars to Vanderbilt’s renowned children’s hospital to enhance its music therapy services. For young patients, music offers an escape and even pain relief, as music therapist Emily Owens notes, “I wasn’t feeling pain as I was playing that music.”
The donated guitars, transported by U-Pack from Washington to Nashville, enable hospital staff to focus fully on healing through music, knowing instruments are available to support bedside music instruction and therapeutic play. Read the full story and watch the video from News Channel 5 here.
